SCARE DRYER

This morning ryan and i have decided we are going to go out to breakfast, go to a yard sale, and run some other errands. I didnt want to take a full blown shower, so i just wet my hair so i could dry it and it wouldnt look like bed head.

Well i turn on the hair dryer and what happens you ask?? A freaking HUGE SPIDER..thats right a spider gets blown out of my hairdryer and flies at my face. What a way to start my halloween..GEEZ..OF course i start screaming and crying and Ryan asks if i got shocked! i would say that was an understatement. HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!

Ps. apparently it was a "wolf spider" i guess that is the technical name for a Giant, Scary, Mean Hairdryer spider....

slacking lately?

So Sorry about my infrequent posting this week..i have been busy procrastinating!! it seems like when everything needs to be done, i have the urge to do absolutely nothing. Horrible, I know.

So yesterday, as i was putting off cleaning the house and organizing our clutter, i (well me and heath) drove to Camden, SC to meet Ryan for lunch. I got there way early-on purpose- so that i could browse the antique shops. Much to my surprise, i found a side table almost exactly like this one...

Now this buffet/side table/antique is by no means perfect. Actually it is perfectly imperfect, but i fell in love with it nonetheless. I bought it last year sometime in Ridgeway, SC, from a florist who was closing shop....I paid a whopping $45.00 for it. I was so excited about my steal! Well anyways, i saw almost the exact same one yesterday in a shop. It was in a bit better condition, but they were asking $995.00 for it! I COULD NOT BELIEVE IT!!! So my idea is to convert mine into something a bit more spectacular. I want to fill in some of the imperfections with wood putty, add new hardware, and paint it a fun, vibrant color. What do yall think? Any suggestions on color?... i was thinking maybe a Tiffany blue or a funky yellow? Or should i leave it as is?

men haha

so as ryan and i were winding down and getting ready for bed, we were talking about how we need to go grocery shopping.
Good wife that i am, i started meal planning in my head, and blurted out Lets make some ham one night, i can get it cut at the deli and just brown it in the pan, well husband replies " if you are making ham you should make a WHOLE HAM, the kind that we can cut with a turkey knife..you know the ones with the Mowtah (his version of the word motor--hand motion included.)" of course i just bust out laughing..of course he wants another power tool, even if it is only to cut his dinner with!

blink

(photo curtesy of amazon.com)
I love music. I am a mom. Thus, i love this cd by Plumb. I had never heard of her, nor listened to any of her music, however my uncle gave us this cd shortly after Heath was born. I keep it in the cd player that is in Heath's room, and i play it about 2-3 times a day.
I still have not gotten tired of it, and he loves it and immediately falls to sleep-most of the time. It is such a sweet cd and is meaningful to me as a mother. I think this would make a great gift for a mom-to-be or present for a new baby. If you want to hear it before you buy it, you can youtube ithttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x67NYGJDsGg&feature=related

So i discovered these great buckets when i was gardening with Aunt Patty. i found some of them when we went to NC. They are flexible but sturdy. They wash out easily.

I am not the only one who likes the new, colorful buckets...
They allow Heath to sit up, without tipping over.!

Random pic...i just love the look on Heath's face. so happy :)
Oh..and the
State fair starts today!! woo hoo

a wonderful saturday morning!

Saving my Honey some Money!

So i said that i had a project up my sleeve......

I turned this worn out, multi-colored magazine rack

into this:

and this dresser..which holds a lot of my clothes, but had drawers that wouldnt open and close properly, meaning i had to fight with it EVERY DAY.....not to mention it didnt match anything...

is now this beauty!!

all it took was a nail gun to fix the drawers, a good sanding, about 4 coats of paint, and new hardware...and Ta-Da! i have myself a new dresser!.. (for MUCH less $$ than a new piece of furniture.)
Side note: that is the new color of our bedroom.....sure beats fire engine red, huh?

randoms

Today was the first time that Heath has had meat! He ate some chicken with chicken gravy style baby food. I have also let him have a teething cookie (and before i found these at the store, i gave him an animal cracker....but only one without feet so he couldnt choke.)

On another note, WE PUT THE HOUSE NEXT DOOR UP FOR SALE!!!! Finally! We still have to do some touch up stuff but it is mosly complete.

We also glazed the tub ourselves. Originally we thought that we could get rebath to do it, however they charged a TON of money. like $1,695.00 Just to reglaze it. So Ryan headed to lowes and bought $40 worth of glazing supplies and it looks better than brand new. SO the moral of the story is: before you shell out cash, try it yourself first!

My parents are coming into town for the weekend for the Carolina VS. Kentucky game. Ryan is going to Charleston to fish, and I have a suprise project planned!!! Check back soon for Before and afters!

rant

Rain rain go away come again another day. Or dont. It has been nasty outside ever since we got back from Bald Head and i am really having running/walking withdrawls.
I usually take Heath in his jogger and go for a run after Ryan goes to work, and recently we had been going extra early so Ryan could come too. We had been bundling Heath up in the mornings before Ryan has to be at work and going for walks. I love walking with them and checking out what is going on in the neighborhood.
I love to see how people landscape and decorate, and i get some good ideas for our home. I just enjoy the fresh air, listening to the birds, and all that jazz too. I usually get out there every morning, But ever since this rain nonsense i dont even feel like getting out of the house. It makes me feel like i am going to go stir crazy!!

randomness

So yesterday i picked my sister up and we headed to McDonalds for some breakfast. She ordered a sausage egg and cheese biscuit and i just got a fruit parfait (ryan had made us french toast). Then i had to run to the bank, and as i was sittin there waiting for the thing to come back thru the tube, Heath started to fuss.

Sister: I think he needs a diaper change, It really stinks.

Me: hold on, ill park and change him.........shea, hes clean what are you talking about?

Sis: (opening her biscuit which is really an english muffin) OMG! this is the smell! I hate english muffins. THEY ARE FOUL.

Me:bahahah

In my last post i wrote about how excited i was for the fall weather. So of course on our trip to lowes that day i just had to get in that garden section! I stayed outside and planted pansies, gardenias, hostas, and some other things. The little man helped, of course! PS-this is a sneak peak of after pictures of the house next door!

FAAAALLLLL

Its October 1st and i am ready to go to the pumpkin patch. I am so excited to decorate for fall. The morning air is crisp, the leaves are changing, and I have been breaking out my winter clothes, too. Ryan, Heath, and I have been going for a jog/walk in the mornings and we have had to wear layers the past few mornings. It is so nice to have that special time in the morning when we are all together before Ryan has to be at work.
On another note, we will all be together this weekend for a wedding in NC. We are staying in a house on Bald Head Island and i cant wait! We have to leave our cars and take a ferry to the island where the only transportation is a golf cart. We have never been so it will be a fun adventure.
We had to get Heath a cute shirt to wear at the wedding so we went to gymboree the other day and found a little button down with red stripes that will go perfect under his little red "puff" vest. I will post pictures when we get back!!
HOPE EVERYONE HAS A GREAT WEEKEND!!!
